Department of Pathology

The Department of Pathology trains undergraduates in the medical, dental, laboratory medicine, physiotherapy and nursing streams as well as postgraduates of medical, dental and laboratory medicine. The department provides round-the-clock laboratory and blood bank services to both out-patients and in-patients. There are four separate sections in the laboratory – Histopathology & Immunohistochemistry, Cytology, Hematology and Clinical Pathology – each under the supervision of qualified staff on rotation.

The pathologists are assisted by well-qualified technical staff. The sections are equipped with necessary and sophisticated instruments like the automated cell counter, coagulometer, automatic tissue processor, microtomes, microwave oven, monocular, binocular and trinocular microscopes with CCTV, phase contrast, dark field and photomicrography facilities and computers for storing data. The laboratory reports are dispatched to the respective wards and OP clinics regularly at 9.15 am, 12 noon and 3 pm to reduce inconvenience to the patients. The department also extends routine laboratory services for regular health check-up camps conducted by our hospital.
