DEPARTMENT OF PAEDIATRICS

Paediatrics department at K.S.Hegde hospital which deals with comprehensive care and management of health problems in new borns, children and adolescents. The department is committed to providing safe and high quality medical care and treats our young patients with compassion. Our team of experienced Paediatricians and nurses work 24x7 while adhering to evidence-based treatment guidelines approached from multiple disciplines. The Department of Pediatrics at K.S.Hegde Hospital comprising of three units which offer the whole spectrum of services for new born,children and adolescents which includes Pediatric Emergency and Intensive Care, Neonatal Intensive Care, Well baby clinic, Pediatric Neurology and Child Development clinic, Pediatric Immunology and Rheumatology services, Pediatric Hematology, Pediatric Hepatology and Gastroenterology services, Pediatric Allergy, Pediatric Nephro-Uro and Pediatric Cardiac services. We also strive in providing quality education and training to budding young undergraduates with a program which has been running since 1999 and masters training program (MD PEDIATRICS) since 2006.The department is also involved in guiding students of interdisciplinary doctoral (PhD) offered by Nitte. The department is also actively involved in the field of innovation and research and has ongoing research projects with national grants.

The Department runs an observership course for PG Students doing MDS in Pedodontics and MaxilloFacialSurgery<. The Department is also involved in guiding the students of the interdisciplinary doctoral (PhD) offered by Nitte (Deemed to be University).

  • Pediatric ward - 80 beds
  • High dependency unit (HDU) 5 beds

N-SPECC (nitte - special child care) for physically and mentally challenged children

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) has 12 beds and is fully equipped with the following:
  • Warmers, Incubators & Cardiac monitors
  • Pulse Oxymeters
  • Latest Phototherapy units
  • Ventilator 2
  • Bubble CPAP - 1

The High Dependency Unit HDU has 5 beds in the ward and is equipped with pulseoxymeters and electronic monitors

The Pediatric Intensive care Unit (PICU) has 4 beds and is equipped with the following:
  • 4 multi-parameter monitors
  • 1 ventilator
  • Infusion Pumps
  • Defibrillator.
