Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology caters to pre-clinical physiology requirements for medical, dental, physiotherapy and nursing students. They also offer MD and Ph.D courses. The department has very good teaching learning infrastructure. There are five laboratories in the department. Hematology laboratory with facilities for training in Haemoglobinometry, blood cell counts, PCV, ESR, blood grouping and typing and hemostasis tests. Human Physiology Laboratory with 6 Digital Data Acquisition Workstations for recording and analysis of a variety physiological parameters in human subject. Clinical Physiology Laboratory for training in basics of clinical examination. Amphibian and Mammalian Physiology Laboratories as per MCI requirements. There is also a skill lab for BLS training, a departmental library, a seminar room and two demonstration rooms. The department also has a E-Learning Course Web-page on NUeLearn.

The department has a research lab were in a lot of research activities are carried out. The research facilities in lab are:
1. 4-channel hi-resolution Digital Data Acquisition System

2. Cardiovascular Autonomic function testing facility including Heart Rate Variability and Head-up Tilt Table

3. Psychophysiology studies facility including Sympathetic Skin Responses / Electrodermal Activity recorder and Stimulus Presentation System

4. Anthropometry equipment – Body Fat Mass Analyzer, Skin-fold thickness calipers

5. Portable Wireless Electroencephalography (EEG) system with advanced computational software

6. Radial Arm Maze for rodent behavioral studies
