Master of Public Health (MPH)


Master of Public Health is an interdisciplinary postgraduate program expanding its scope across the world, focusing on active, student-directed learning, problem solving and acquiring the skills essential for efficient public health practice.

Course Content
MPH at Nitte is a full time program of 2 years duration having Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). The course was initiated with the aim of developing public health professionals with the skills to work at various levels with special emphasis on low and middle income countries. The course work includes a spectrum of academic sessions, seminars, scientific clubs, field practicum, elective streams, a dissertation and internship spread across four semesters.

Core Modules: Principles of Public Health, Health Policy, Health Management, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Demography Health Economics, Health Promotion Approaches, Financial Management, Social and Behavior Change, Women and Child Health, Health Programs and Evaluation, Social Research Methods, Environmental & Occupational Health and Law & Ethics.

Electives (Any one): Advanced Epidemiology, RMNCH+A Advanced Course.

Internship: The curriculum includes a unique internship which provides students with an opportunity to synthesize, integrate and apply their new skills and competencies to a public health problem.

Field exposure: Students get wide exposure to both urban and rural health through Nitteā€™s network of 21 outreach satellite centers spread across the west coast of India, including multiple tiers of public health facilities, rural tribal health, national program monitoring and evaluations, innovative project operationalization and use of IT in field programs.

Eligibility
Any graduate in Health Sciences - MBBS, BDS, BVSc, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, BPharm, BPT, BSc (N), PB BSc (N), BPH, Paramedical Sciences - BSc (MIT), BSc (A&OTT), BSc (MLT), BSc (RT), BSc in Biomedical Science, Veterinary Science, Natural Sciences (any life science), Social Sciences & Social Work, Engineering including Environmental Engineering, Management, Commerce, Humanities or any other degree equivalent thereto, from a recognised University with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

Intake: 12 | Duration: 2 years (includes 2 months of internship)

Admission Procedure
Candidates seeking admission to MPH program are required to submit the Admission Enquiry form available on the homepage of www.nitte.edu.in.

On receipt of the same, the Admission Section will guide the students with the process of registration and admission.

Eligible students will be selected on the basis of educational qualifications, achievements and professional experience if any, relevant to the field of public health and personal/skype interview.

  • 10th standard pass certificate for proof of date of birth (Original + 3 attested copies)
  • Qualifying Degree marks cards (Original + 3 attested copies)
  • Degree certificate issued by a recognised University (Original + 3 attested copies)
  • Transfer certificate from the institution last attended (Original + 3 attested copies)
  • Conduct certificate from the institution last attended
  • Migration certificate from Board/University of the institution last attended (Original + 3 attested copies)
  • Physical Fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner
  • Blood Group certificate
  • Copy of the student's Aadhaar Card
  • Photographs: Recent colour photo with white background, of resolution 300-600 dpi & size 35 mm x 45 mm (P.P size 5 Nos.) & size 20 mm x 25 mm (Stamp size 5 Nos.)

Commencement of Course
The course commences on the date prescribed by the University, usually during the second week of August
