About the Institution
K S Hegde Medical Academy, established in 1999 is recognized by the Medical Council of India / NMC, New Delhi. It is affiliated to Nitte (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru and situated in the Medical Sciences Complex at Deralakatte, Mangaluru. The college is ranked 36th in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2020 by MHRD, GoI among the medical colleges in India.

Dean: Prof. (Dr) P S Prakash, MBBS, MD (General Medicine) is a renowned physician and has nearly 4 decades of clinical, undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral training experience.
Co-ordinator
Dr Janardhan Kamath, MBBS, DNB, Head, Department of Nephrology, has nearly 17 years of teaching experience.
Eligibility
Pass in 12th standard or equivalent examination with 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry & Biology with English as one of the languages of study. The candidate should have completed 17 years of age as on 31st December of the year of admission..
Admission Procedure for BSc (RDT)
Students seeking admission to BSc (RDT) are required to submit the Admission Query form available on the homepage of www.nitte.edu.in or through the link, apply.nitte.edu.in
On receipt of the same, the Admission Section will guide students with the process of registration and admission.
Admission to BSc (RDT) is based on merit in the qualifying examination.
The fee structure is made available on our website www.nitte.edu.in under the head, Course Fee.
Documents required for admission to BSc (RDT) (Original + 3 attested copies)
- 10th standard pass certificate for proof of date of birth
- 12th standard marks card
- Transfer certificate from the institution last attended
- Conduct certificate from the institution last attended
- Eligibility certificate issued by Nitte University (This will be handled by us)
- Migration certificate from the Board of the institution last studied
- Physical fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner
- Blood group certificate
- Photographs: Recent colour photo with white background, of resolution 300-600 dpi & size 35 mm x 45 mm (P.P size 5 Nos.) & size 20 mm x 25 mm (Stamp size 5 Nos.)
- Aadhaar card copy of the student
Commencement of Course
The course commences on the date prescribed by the University, generally in August.

Career Opportunities
Dialysis professionals are usually employed in the Hemodialysis Unit/Peritoneal Dialysis Units of medical colleges, corporate hospitals and standalone dialysis units. Under Graduates may work in the field of Teaching as dialysis Therapists and with experience become clinical supervisor for academic programs or clinical services. Professionals may eventually specialize in particular areas of practice, or in specific techniques such as peritoneal dialysis, vascular access care & Quality care etc. Graduates may also pursue MSc in Renal Dialysis Technology. Managerial careers within dialysis department are also possible, as is pursuing further education or research. The renal dialysis technology graduates are highly regarded and employment opportunities are readily available, in both metropolitan and rural areas. There is moderate industry demand for dialysis technician in India and abroad.
