Department of Biochemistry

The Department of Biochemistry is actively involved in training both undergraduate and postgraduate students of the Medical, Dental, Paramedical courses, as well as, Ph.D students. In addition to the theory aspects, students are trained in basic practical skills required in biochemical investigations to support clinical diagnosis of common disorders in the community. The department consists of adequate teaching learning infrastructure such as fully equipped practical laboratory, research laboratory, demonstration rooms, clinical laboratory and departmental library with all standard reference books. The faculty of the department were successful in receiving good number of extramural funds from ICMR, BRNS, RSSDI VGST and NIH. The department has also received grant from DIST-FIST for strengthening the infrastructure facility for the purpose of research. The faculty encourages students to undertake short term research projects.
