The Fellowship program in Neuroimmunology is offered at the Centre for Advanced Neurological Research, KS Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore.

DURATION: One year

INTAKE: 2 (1 per cycle)

ELIGIBILITY: DM (Neurology) / DNB (Neurology)

SELECTION: Based on the academic performance and personal interview

LAST DATE TO APPLY: 15th September for January cycle | 14th March for July cycle

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Selected candidate will have the opportunity to acquire clinical diagnostic and management skills while working within the Mangalore Demyelinating Disease Registry (MANNDIR), one of the largest CNS autoimmune disease registries in the Indian subcontinent, develop hands-on training in the acquiring & analysis of OCT, Multifocal ERG and VEP data, Interpretation of MRI & Biomarker assays and developing basic research skills in Neuroimmunology.

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

  • Theory
    • Basic immunology of demyelinating disorders
    • Immunology of MS, NMOSD & MOGAD
    • Radiology of demyelinating disorders
    • Paraclinical tests - Optical coherence and evoked potential studies
    • Biomarkers in diagnosis of Neuroimmunological disorders
    • Approach to diagnosis and differential diagnosis

  • Clinical
    Daily special clinic for demyelinating disorders - patient assessment and workup subject seminars, case discussions, journal reviews.

  • Project Work
    Candidates are expected to work on a clinical topic, with patient data obtained from the Mangalore Demyelinating Disease Registry database. The research data will be analysed & presented at the regional / international meetings and published in peer reviewed journals.
